ROAD CODE TO MAKE YOUNGSTERS SAFER
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents today welcomed the publication of Road Code - the new road safety guide specifically for young road users.
Dave Rogers, RoSPA Road Safety Adviser, said: "Road Code is in a style which should appeal to young road users.
"It will complement RoSPA’s work in trying to prevent accidents in the seven to 11 years age group. Young pedestrians and cyclists are among the most vulnerable of our road users and we hope they will read the code and follow its advice.
"RoSPA has joined forces with Toyota for a three year S’cool to be Safe campaign and will be using the code in the schools it visits with an interactive drama production about road safety.
"We hope that the safety lessons children learn now will help to make our roads safer in future."
Priced £2.50, Road Code is written by the Driving Standards Agency for the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions and published by the Stationery Office. The website for more information is www.roadcode.co.uk.
