SCOTTISH COMPANIES TO COLLECT HEALTH AND SAFETY HONOURS
Scotland’s top award for occupational health and safety will be presented to Aramark Limited Offshore next week.
It is the second time in three years that the Aberdeen-based provider of offshore catering, accommodation and facilities management services for the oil industry has won the prestigious RoSPA Scotland Trophy.
The award will be presented at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, on Thursday, September 27.
In May, the company collected RoSPA’s Hotel and Catering Industry Sector award, and it was also a finalist for RoSPA’s premier occupational health and safety award, the Sir George Earle Trophy.
Susan Elston, Managing Director of Aramark Limited Offshore, said: "We are delighted once again to receive the RoSPA Scotland Trophy in recognition of Aramark's efforts to ensure a safe environment for all our employees. Such acknowledgement motivates workforce involvement, which has been a key factor in achieving our current and future levels of safety performance."
Around 100 other organisations will also be honoured at the Glasgow event.
Other major winners due to receive their awards are Renfrewshire Council (winner of the Astor Trophy for occupational health), and Greenock-based National Semiconductor UK Limited (commended in both the Manufacturing Industry Sector and the International Dilmun Environmental Award).
Also travelling to the ceremony will be representatives of International Power Global Development Limited - Hub Power Station Pakistan (highly commended in the Electricity Industry Sector).
The presentations will be made by Lord Brougham and Vaux, Vice-President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
Tom Mullarkey, RoSPA Chief Executive, said: “Health and safety performance speaks volumes about an organisation. Aramark Limited Offshore and all the other RoSPA award winners stand as beacons to organisations in Scotland and across the UK, and we urge others to learn from and emulate their achievements.”
The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards, sponsored by NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), have been running for more than 50 years. A special RoSPA Awards Networking Event, sponsored by Scottish Water Solutions, will be held be for the first time on Thursday, September 27 at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow, for organisations wanting practical advice about entering next year’s awards.
