Workplace Training : Risk management and hazard awareness
TOPIC-RELATED RISK ASSESSMENT
The following short courses are aimed at helping managers, supervisors and safety practitioners deal with the risks associated with key health and safety topics. They follow a risk assessment approach, which looks to integrate specific issues into an organisation’s health and safety management system.
Risk Assessment
Under health and safety legislation the main requirement for employers is to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments. Indeed, risk assessments form the lynchpin of health and safety management.
DSE Assessors and Ergonomic Principles
Display screen equipment assessments are not only a legal requirement: done properly they can actually help combat the musculoskeletal disorders, reduced concentration levels and other ill-health effects that are symptomatic of time spent at poorly designed workstations.
Workplace Transport Risk Assessment
As on site transport remains the second biggest cause of accidents in the workplace, causing around 70 fatalities and over 2000 serious injuries every year, it is no surprise that this area is a priority for the Health and Safety Executive.
Fire Risk Assessment
Following the Regulatory Reform(Fire Safety) Order 2005, it is now compulsory for companies to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment.
This is a major change in legislation and fire certificates are no longer issued or in force. As an employer, or as someone who has control of a workplace, you must put in place ‘suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments’. The changes outlined in the legislation represent the most significant change for over 30 years, and greatly simplify the route to compliance. This two day course has been designed with the advice of a senior fire professional specifically to help you comply with these laws.
Managing Stress and Violence
There are strong economic, legal and humane reasons for learning to manage stress and violence. Not only do negative effects of stress cost the UK an estimated £3.7 billion a year – the HSE also requires that employers conduct risk assessments for all hazards, including work related stress.
Managing Occupational Road Risk
More people are killed and injured in at-work road accidents than in all other occupational accidents put together. Indeed, considering the human, legal and economical implications it is clear that Managing Occupational Road Risk may be the greatest health and safety issue that managers face. This course is in line with HSE priorities as it examines ways in which to apply risk assessment techniques and safety management models to the specifics of road related risks, and as recognised experts in this field, RoSPA is ideally placed to deliver this crucial course.
Essentials in Client/Contractor Relationships
This is a unique opportunity for both client and contractor parties to meet within a realistic environment, and understand the practical requirements of the contractor selection process as well as the management of contractor interface throughout the project.
Construction, Design Management Awareness
Revisions to the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations came in to force in 2007. The new, simplified Regulations revise and bring together the 1996 CDM Regulations and the Construction Health Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996 into one legal code. Having been involved in consultations to help develop the new Regulations, RoSPA is now ideally placed to communicate the changes to safety managers as well as offer practical advice on how to comply, and realise the business benefits.
