In the fluctuating weather- stay steady with your speed |
With the recent erratic weather, the only sure thing on the roads is the speed limits! However, many car drivers unintentionally exceed the speed limit, often without realising it. Modern cars are so powerful and comfortable they give drivers little sensation of their speed. It is too easy to creep above the limit, and in particular, many drivers believe it is difficult to drive a modern car at no more than 30 MPH on a road with a 30 MPH limit.
RoSPA offers a range of free road safety resources including the Top Ten Tips To Stay Within The Limit.
It is important to realise that even a small amount above the limit makes a big difference.

This country’s biggest occupational safety problem - Driving at work |
Between 800 and 1,000 deaths in Britain each year are linked to people being on the road for work purposes, making it the country’s biggest occupational health and safety problem.
For this reason, RoSPA and Drivetech have developed the first Occupational Advanced Driving test, the ROADTest. The ROADTest is aimed specifically at people who drive as part of their job, particularly company car and van drivers who are 35-50% more likely to be involved in an accident than private drivers.
The ROADTest sets the benchmark for “at work” driving and is the first training programme to offer a recognised qualification that acknowledges the reality of driving for work purposes.
