I will be hiring temps or agency workers, what do I need to consider?

Spotlight on Small Business - Employing Temps and Agency WorkersIt is imperative that you tell the employment agency hiring them, about the risks to the worker’s health and safety, and steps you have taken to control them; together with any necessary legal or professional qualifications or skills, and any necessary health surveillance. The employment agency should then pass this information on to the worker in a way the worker can understand and as the employer you must ensure the worker has understood it.

Police Forces Encourage Responsible Management of Occupational Road Risk (MORR)

A number of police forces have recently introduced new initiatives to encourage company bosses to adopt responsible MORR strategies.

After stopping a driver fPolice Forces Encourage Responsible Management of Occupational Road Riask (MORR)or a motoring offence, if they identify the driver is “driving at work”, a senior, uniformed traffic officer, may request a meeting with a company director. The officer can ask about their risk management strategy and request to see documentary evidence, that H & S legislation is being complied with, such as driving at work polices. In London firms who refuse to co-operate, can be issued with an improvement notice and possibly fined.

RoSPA have a full range of services to help you implement an effective MORR strategy.
