According to a study by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, depression and stress together make up the second largest cause of workers taking time off sick. On average staff with depression were off work for 30 days annually and those with stress 21 days.

July 1st Smoking Ban – A Sign of the Times

From the 1st July 2007 virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces will be required to be smoke free at all times. Employers, managers and those in charge of smoke free premises and vehicles will need to:

Take reasonable steps to ensure that staff, customers/ members and visitors are aware that premises and vehicles are legally required to be smoke free Remove any existing indoor smoking rooms Ensure that no one smokes in smoke free premises or vehicles Display “no-smoking” signs in smoke free premises and vehicles.
