Winter road risks - help for fleets

Up to 1/3 OffThe winter weather will soon be upon us, and with the recent clock alterations our evenings are becoming darker a lot earlier, and this can cause many problems for those driving while at work and travelling home after work.

Along with the darker evenings and bad weather, the slanting sun and Christmas festivities all play a role in making our roads increasingly dangerous at this time of year.

RoSPA’s mission is to ‘save lives and reduce injuries’, and we work extremely hard in the area of Road Safety, to try and achieve this.

To mark the start of what can be seen as a very dangerous period on our roads, we are introducing up to a third off the price of our successful driver risk assessment tool, Driver Profiler.

Driver Profiler is our award winning on-line psychometric assessment tool. By measuring attitudes and behaviour while driving, this tool will help employers to:

  • Risk assess their workforce – at a reduced cost
  • Prioritise training where it is needed
  • Bolster findings of risk assessments for existing drivers

Risk assessments are not only a legal requirement; they also enable informed decisions to be made on the provision of driver training.

Don’t let the cold and wet weather dampen your attitude to safety. Enjoy our special winter offer for this product:

Up to a third off - depending on the number of drivers to be profiled.

For more details on the Driver Profiler call 0121 248 2084 or instantly request a FREE trial.

Safer Homes Week: Age Concern England

Safer Homes Week: Age Concern EnglandRoSPA was pleased to help with this new Age Concern initiative, created in association with National Grid. Its aim was to promote safety in the home and a variety of activities were planned in 31 different Age Concern branches throughout the UK.

Key safety messages were shared and publicity of the events attracted many members of the public with an interest in older people’s safety.

One example of RoSPA’s involvement was a visit to the Tulip Tree Centre in Kidderminster. Around 30 older people listened to a presentation entitled “A New Lease Of Life” given by a RoSPA representative.

Also, two days were spent setting up an exhibition that provided safety information in Spalding, Lincolnshire. Useful conversations with the public made people more aware of home dangers such as carbon monoxide poisoning.

Visit our website to find our more information on RoSPA’s work in Home Safety.

Child Safety Strategy – Scotland

Home SafetyIn Scotland, a Child Safety Strategy has been produced in support of the Child Safety Action Plan for Europe.

The Child Safety Strategy creates a framework for action with a list of recommendations aimed at developing a strategic approach to preventing unintentional injuries to children and young people in Scotland.

Development of the plan was led by RoSPA Scotland and the Child Accident Prevention Trust in consultation with key agencies and departments of the Scottish Government, and also in consultation with children directly.

Amongst the recommendations put forward is that a plan of action should be developed for Scotland, setting out the priority injury issues, suggesting injury prevention programmes, identifying clear lines of responsibility locally and nationally, recommending performance indicators and advising on research needs.

The Strategy will be launched on 6th December in Edinburgh.

Download a PDF of the Strategy from our website.

News Flash: Scotland Report cards
