Keeping up with keeping it down - are you prepared for 6 April?

The music and entertainment industry faces tough changesThe music and entertainment industry faces tough changes this year, as legislation comes into force to protect those working in the industry.

The new Control of Noise at Work regulations affecting this industry, which replace those existing since 1989, come into force on 6 April 2008.

Are you a safety inspector seeking guidance?

Are you worried about complying with this new law?

Noise Consultancy from RoSPA

With RoSPA’s Consultancy Service a fully competent noise assessor (recognised by the Institute of Acoustics), will visit your premises to determine noise exposures using appropriate instrumentation, calibration, and measurement and analysis techniques.

The results are analysed and presented to incorporate immediate and future actions.

To find out how RoSPA can help make you compliant with the law, please call 0121 248 2233 to speak to one of our advisors.

Minibus Safety - stay up to date with the new Code of Practice

Minibus Safety : A Code of PracticeAnyone who operates a minibus service to carry passengers has a duty to take all reasonable precautions to ensure that it is operated safely.

New for 2008, the Minibus Safety: A Code Of Practice aims to help organisations, which own, hire or lease minibuses, to provide a safe, effective and efficient service.

It is written for the person who owns, manages, or has responsibility for the operation and management of the minibus. This may be the driver, centre manager, the school (a nominated individual, head teacher or the Governing Body) or the group leader. It is not written for commercial operators who require a full Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operator licence.

HSE Guidelines, ‘Driving at Work’, state that: “health and safety law applies to on-the-road work activities and the risks should be effectively managed within a health and safety system.”

The Code of Practice refers throughout to various statutory regulations and other documents.

This one-day course, accredited by City & Guilds explores fall prevention methods through behavioural and environmental changes. The day also focuses on other common accidents affecting older people, including the reduction of accidental injury through fire, poisoning and scalds.

RoSPA ROADTest now with free BTEC level three

ROADTestRoSPA’s Driver & Fleet Solutions are pleased to announce a major added benefit to all Fleet delegates taking RoSPA’s Occupational Advanced Driving Test (RoADTest ).

The RoADTest is the first training programme to culminate in a recognised qualification which acknowledges the reality of driving for work purposes.

Now by completing the RoADTest programme and test delegates can upgrade their test pass and importantly ensure that all their hard work is recognised via a BTEC level three qualification at no extra cost!

The flexibility of the programme means that training can be spread over a three-year period, which is ideal for the new Driver CPC legislation due to come into force in September.

RoADTest offers organisations financial, duty of care and health and safety benefits from a safer and more efficient fleet.

This results in:

  • Reduced accident and incident claims and repair costs
  • Lower insurance premium
  • Less time lost to maintenance and repair of vehicles
  • Increased productivity through more reliable vehicle scheduling
  • Savings from reduced wear and tear to vehicles and improved fuel consumption
  • Better trained and motivated staff and an improved company image from drivers
  • Greater care and courtesy
  • Reduced risk of litigation
