European UnionLet RoSPA help demystify the ‘risk assessment’ process

This year’s European Campaign for Safety and Health at Work 2008 focuses on risk assessment. This campaign promotes the benefits of completing and implementing a risk assessment and seeks to demystify the process by showing that it is not necessarily complicated, bureaucratic or a task only for experts.

RoSPA is ideally placed to provide support for your organisation in this vital area with our range of topic-related short courses, which form part of our regional public course programme and are also extremely popular ‘in-company’:

PosterEnsure that your employees have all the information they need to hand with one of RoSPA’s informative publications or display a poster as a helpful reminder where everyone has access.

Firework safetyThe most recent figures for Great Britain show that 990 people went to hospital with a firework-related injury in the four weeks around Bonfire Night in 2005.

Nearly half of the injuries (48%) were sustained at family or private parties. A quarter happened in the street or another public place where, by law, fireworks should not be let off.

With fireworks now widely on sale across the country, it is important to plan Bonfire Night celebrations in advance to ensure they are memorable for all the right reasons.

RoSPA’s firework safety website - www.saferfireworks.com - has all the information people need to plan parties at home as well as small community events.

Please visit our website for the full press release and comments from Sheila Merrill, RoSPA Home Safety Manager for England.

ResourcesThis important date brings road safety issues right to the top of the agenda. In 2007 deaths on Britain’s roads had fallen below 3,000 for the first time since records began more than 80 years ago. The many agencies and professionals who work within road safety have much to do with this fall in deaths and RoSPA would like to continue this downward trend.

Make sure you have the resources to support road safety week and initiatives throughout the year to continue the good work being carried out across the UK.10% discount
